Select cucumbers that are firm, well-shaped, and a vibrant green color. The skin should be firm and free of soft or yellow spots.
Store cucumbers in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. Don’t leave them out for too long because heat causes them to wilt.
Select peppers that have vibrant color and firm, blemish-free skin. For even slicing, choose a pepper that has a symmetrical shape.
Store bell peppers in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.
Select tomatoes that have a deep, rich color. That color isn’t just appetizing, it also means that the tomato is fully ripe and has a rich supply of nutrients. The skin should be smooth, firm, and free of blemishes. The tomato should feel a little heavy for its size and the flesh should yield just slightly to gentle pressure.
Store your tomatoes at room temperature on the counter, a shelf or in a basket, away from direct sunlight. Your Dee Mandala tomatoes were picked when ripe and will ripen a bit more on the inside when stored at room temperature—no need to speed ripening in a paper bag.
Don’t store your tomatoes in the refrigerator.
